The mantra from the Law of Attraction Gurus states that everything that we receive in life (both good and bad) was attracted by our dominant conscious and subconscious thoughts. While I agree that thoughts truly do become things, the idea that everything is our fault is patently false. No amount of positive thinking or any other method of creating our own reality is going to prevent accidents and tragedies from happening.
Accidents happen. It is a simple as that. There are external events in the world that are beyond our control and this is the big failure of the “Law of Attraction.” Certainly, some of our thoughts and actions put us in Harm’s way but some tragedies are simply accidents and no LOA Guru is going to convince me otherwise.
We just went through a family tragedy-one that a parent should never have to go through. The thing is that it was simply an accident. Totally unavoidable and totally out of the blue. I did not attract this into my life nor did it have anything to do with the Law of Attraction Manifestation Process. We live in a world where there are accidents that are completely out of our control.
Now here is where creating your reality comes in. If we are responsible for our realities then what we must do when tragedies strike, is to take control of our minds (responsibility) and use our mastery of our mind to control our reactions to the tragedy and try if at all possible to learn whatever lessons there are to be found in the tragedy.
We can’t control what goes on in the external world but, we can control our reactions. We must take the blows and come back fighting. If we don’t take control of our reality then we will just wallow in a pit of self-pity. If we do that then we have shirked our responsibilities and become a victim of life.
Crying time is over. Now it is time to get back in the saddle (sorry for the cliche) and take control of my reality. It will help me, my family and hopefully many others. As I have said many times-the past is ancient history, we can only live in the present moment because the future is just a dream. Be grateful for this moment in time because it is all that you will ever have.
